A Local Doctor’s Dream to Connect Past with Future

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS -- When ophthalmologist, Joseph Meyer first began seeing patients in Round Rock in 1998, the population was 61,000. Today, as the numbers of residents have risen to nearly 122,000 Dr. Meyer says, “we’ve all pretty much grown up around here together,” referring to his patients, the Round Rock area, and his career.

“Central Texas has been a fine place to work and live,” said Meyer, “I couldn’t imagine building my private practice anywhere else.” Meyer added, “I sometimes treat two-to-three generations from the same family. That kind of relationship is very fulfilling, as well as a pretty good reminder that time marches on.”

Citing changes in healthcare that have created a trend where physicians are often unable to provide as personalized care as they had in days gone by, Dr. Meyer said, “Round Rock Eye Consultants is small by design--focused on bringing back the attentive care of the local hometown doctor that patients remember, while offering the latest, most up-to-date technology.” According to Meyer, having his own practice has been a lifelong dream, and the time to pursue that is now.

The clinic opened official in April 2016. Dr. Meyer added that the past six months have been an amazing experience watching his lifelong dream come to fruition. “We designed our clinic to have patients feel like family from the very first moment they step through the front door. It may seem quaint and old fashioned, but we’re excited to be bringing it back into modern medicine in 2016.”
