What is it?
Astigmatism is an eye condition that originates in the cornea. Normal corneas have a nice round shape, similar to a basketball. An eye that has astigmatism will have a shape closer to an almond, comparable to a football.
Why is this a problem?
It affects the way light passes through the eye. When light enters a round shaped eye the light will distribute evenly causing things in your vision line to be clean and crisp. When astigmatism is present the light cannot enter evenly and this causes blurry, and insignificant vision.
How do I know I have it?
Your vision will usually be blurry and focusing on images will be difficult. This will cause your eyes to strain and squint which then will cause headaches, and difficulty driving,
